Lamisil® is a treatment for athlete’s foot (tinea pedis). It is a treatment for athletes foot that involves applying Lamisil to the skin as directed by your doctor. Lamisil® is also used for other fungal skin infections that are caused by athletes foot.
The active ingredient in Lamisil is Terbinafine Hydrochloride. Terbinafine Hydrochloride is a synthetic benzyl alcohol derivative, which is a white, odorless, crystalline powder. Lamisil is used to treat athlete’s foot, ringworm, and to prevent infection.
Before applying Lamisil, wash your hands with soap and water, especially after touching the infected areas.
The use of Lamisil may cause skin reactions such as itching, burning, or irritation. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
To apply Lamisil, carefully wash hands with soap and water, especially after touching the infected areas. If the affected area is near the infected area, use the fingers of the other hand to clean the affected area. Remove the cap from the tube and discard.
The use of Lamisil for external use is not recommended. To avoid irritation of the external use of Lamisil, contact your doctor if you notice the symptoms described in the patient information leaflet. If any of the following symptoms appear in your skin, tell your doctor immediately:
Call your doctor right away if you notice new or worsening skin symptoms, including a change in the colour or skin rash or a burning sensation (such as a lump in the eyes, face, lips, or neck). The use of Lamisil in children is not recommended. It is not known whether Lamisil is safe in pregnant women. The drug should not be given to nursing women unless their doctor advises it. Use of the drug while nursing is not recommended.
If you are a young child and are exposed to Lamisil for external use, do not apply it to the eyes, ears, nose, or throat unless your doctor tells you to.
If you are a large area athlete, apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected skin and surrounding areas, just before applying the cream to the site of the athlete’s skin rash.
It is important to consult your doctor for the safe use of Lamisil if you are a large area athlete, or if you are used to applying Lamisil to the eyes.
The use of Lamisil in the pregnant women should be avoided. It is not known whether Lamisil passes into breast milk or if it is breast-feeding.
The use of Lamisil in the nursing women should be avoided.
Do not use Lamisil if you are allergic to Terbinafine Hydrochloride, or if you have a known hypersensitivity/allergy reaction to any of the ingredients in the medicine.
